The Seven Elements

Shared Humanity: dignity and worth recognized in every person. Belonging: everyone feels seen, heard, valued, included. Trust: in ourselves, in each other, in our institutions.

Shared Purpose: common goals bigger than ourselves. Opportunity & Fairness: access and equal treatment. Civic Engagement: participation and contribution. Mutual Responsibility: rights balanced with responsibilities.

The elements are a wheel, not a ladder — weakness in one flattens the ride for all the others.

Why it matters

Naming the seven turns a vague wish for unity into seven places you can actually act.

In practice

A workplace with high trust but no fairness produces loyalty that quietly curdles.
A neighborhood with belonging but no shared purpose becomes friendly and ineffective.
